Cookery School Terms & Conditions

These Terms set out details which will apply to any booking that you make on our courses and govern our relationship with you in relation to your booking, together with our Privacy Policy which can be found on our Website.

These Terms, and the cookery courses’ content and recipes may change from time to time, but only if absolutely necessary. Where it is these Terms that have changed, we will post the updated Terms on our website. We suggest you print a copy of these Terms or save them to your computer for future reference.

Application Requirements

You must be 18 years or over to attend any course. If you are dealing with us as a consumer, you have legal rights in relation to courses that are not as described in these Terms. Advice about your legal rights is available from your local Citizens’ Advice Bureau or Trading Standards office. Nothing in these Terms will affect these legal rights.

Health & Safety

We take health and safety very seriously and ask that you do the same. When attending a course, you must comply with all our instructions in respect of health and safety. Please ensure that you wear appropriate footwear (e.g. flat covered shoes – trainers are not recommended and strongly discouraged) and sensible clothing. We are not liable for any damage that occurs to clothing or other personal items. Long hair must be tied back in the kitchen and no jewellery should be worn.  For any food taken away from the cookery school, we will provide full preparation instructions, however attendees take food away at their own risk.

Special Dietary Requirements, food allergies & illness

Please inform us at the time of making your booking of any allergies, disabilities, diabetes, pregnancy, epilepsy, learning difficulties or other circumstances which may affect you in participating in the course. Where you have allergies or dietary requirements, we will do our best to accommodate these but we may be unable to tailor our course content to your special dietary requirements. We will be happy to discuss course content beforehand to allow you to make your own alternative eating arrangements if it is not something we can accommodate.

Payment

All payments will need to be made in full at the time of booking. We do not take provisional bookings and cannot guarantee your place on a course until we receive full payment. We accept Mastercard & Visa credit cards and Switch & Maestro debit cards.

Once you have made your booking, we will send you confirmation of your order by email to your nominated email address. In the unlikely event we do not accept your booking (for example, if the course becomes fully booked before your payment is processed), we will fully refund any amounts already paid by you.

Cancellations & Refunds

You have a right to cancel a course booking at any time up to 7 days before the date the course is due to commence, by notifying us in writing (by letter or email). In such circumstances, we will issue you with a credit note to the value of the price you paid for the course. The credit note can be used towards booking an alternative course within 12 months from the date of issue. We will not refund the price paid.

Courses cancelled by you within 7 days of the course date are non-refundable and you will not be issued with a credit note. You may request to send another person in your place however you must provide us in advance with the name, dietary requirements and contact details of anyone attending in your place. While we will do our best to accommodate your request, if that alternative person’s requirements for the course are significantly different to your own, we reserve the right to reject that request.

We reserve the right to cancel your course by giving you notice. In the unlikely event that we cancel a course, we will either offer a suitable transfer to an alternative date or course or, if there is no suitable alternative date or course, a full refund of any course fees already paid at time of cancellation. Unfortunately, we cannot be held liable for any third party costs, such as travel bookings or accommodation.

Gift vouchers

Course bookings paid for using gift vouchers carry the same cancellation policy as above. Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash but are transferable, so if you are unable to make your course, you may contact us to nominate a replacement (although the cancellation terms above will apply). Gift vouchers are valid for one year from date of issue.

Copyright & Acceptable usage

We have put a lot of hard work into developing the Woodspeen Cookery School and our courses, and therefore full copyright of course content and all other materials developed by us will be owned by us. Course notes and reference materials are provided for your personal use only. We ask that you do not, and do not allow anyone else to (1) use the course content or other materials in a way that could infringe our copyright or intellectual property rights, or (2) copy, modify, adapt or re-format any part of the course content and other materials. If you’re not sure what is and isn’t allowed, please call or email us and we can let you know.

Liability

If we fail to comply with these Terms, we will be responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our negligence, but we are not responsible for any loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
We will not be liable for (1) any accidental damage or injury arising during the course or resulting from the actions or omissions of anyone attending the course; (2) the loss of, or damage to, any personal possessions; and (3) any indirect, special or consequential loss. However, this does not affect or limit our liability for (1) death or personal injury arising from our negligence; (2) our fraudulent misrepresentation, or (3) any other liability which cannot be legally excluded or limited.

We also cannot be responsible for any failure to perform our obligations under these Terms that is caused by events outside of our reasonable control (for example, in the unlikely event that there is a war, fire, explosion, storm, flood, earthquake, subsidence, epidemic or other natural disaster).

We will provide full preparation instructions for any food taken away from cookery school, however attendees take food away at their own risk.

Other important points

We will ask that you comply with the reasonable instructions of our course leaders during the course. This is for your safety and the safety of other people attending the course. If we think you are acting in an unacceptable manner, we may have to ask you to leave in which case you will not be entitled to a refund.
