The Woodspeen Cookery School offers a unique opportunity to glean valuable culinary tips from John Campbell – or another top Chef personally trained by John. Passionate about learning and development, John is an acclaimed chef with years of experience in training and education.
A regular guest on BBC Masterchef and Saturday Kitchen, he has written several educational books, including Practical Cookery and Advanced Practical Cookery – the industry standard texts for students striving to become professionals. John’s many awards include two Michelin stars, Catey’s Chef of the Year, an Edouard André Cointreau Award for educational books, and a Catey’s Training and Development Award for his outstanding contribution to education.
John has always dreamed of opening a Cookery School. In 2014, having transformed a traditional farm building into state-of-the-art kitchens, his dream came true. He’s been deeply involved since day one – from the design of the school and its kitchens to its equipment, vegetable patch and courses.
Informative, inspiring, and lots of fun, our courses are designed to appeal to all kinds of cooks – from absolute beginners to accomplished cooks. Courses take place on weekdays, evenings and weekends, and whether you want to cook a perfect steak, make bread, or plan a successful dinner party, there’s something for everyone.
We keep our ‘class’ sizes small (especially for practical courses), so we can give you lots of personal tuition and hands-on advice. What’s more, we want you to focus on the cooking, so one of our team will take care of any prep work, as well as the washing up.
As for ingredients, like our restaurant we use locally sourced seasonal produce, grown by us on site whenever possible. You’ll receive course notes and recipes, but we also encourage you to ask questions and make your own notes. Above all, we hope you’ll enjoy your course, leaving us with plenty of ideas and the confidence to try your new skills at home.
