Welcome to The Woodspeen Cookery School. Founded by chef John Campbell, our school is located in west Berkshire, in a farm building dating back to 1811. Following a sympathetic renovation project, we opened our cosy, state-of-the-art cookery school – and home to The Chef’s Table – in 2014.

What We Do

We host demonstrations, wine tastings, seasonal events, private dining at The Chef’s Table, and a variety of hands-on courses designed to enhance the skills of amateur cooks and beginners alike.

Burgers and Bubbles

A fun evening where you will create the ultimate burger, served classically with a brioche bap, burger relish, chips, onion rings and a choice of beer or champagne.

Our butchery course is very hands on, we believe that a good understanding of traditional butchery skills give the cook an advantage for getting the most out of each cut.

Traditional cakes and desserts are at the heart of good home cooking. We’ll focus on the techniques you need to make pastry and desserts, while our tips on creative presentation will transform you into a star baker. Our hands-on day will give you the opportunity to learn many techniques whilst making several desserts.

Game

Using some of Berkshire’s finest produce we’ll show you how to prepare and cook various types of game, highlighting its versatility and health benefits. Before long you’ll be ‘breaking down’ a haunch of venison, using pheasants with versatility and cooking game birds to perfection.

Chef’s Table

A truly unique dining experience, our Chef’s Table is located in the warm, welcoming atmosphere of our Cookery School kitchen. Then there’s the food. Handpicking the day’s finest ingredients, our Chef will create a bespoke Tasting Menu for up to twelve guests, cooking it to perfection just a few feet from your table.  Priced at £190 a head, and includes champagne and canapés on arrival, a seven-course tasting menu, matching wines, mineral water plus coffee and petit fours.
